TARS: traffic-aware route search
نویسندگان
چکیده
In a traf f ic-aware route search (TARS), the user provides start and target locations and sets of search terms. The goal is to find the fastest route from the start location to the target via geographic entities (points of interest) that correspond to the search terms, while taking into account variations in the travel speed due to changes in traffic conditions, and the possibility that some visited entities will not satisfy the search requirements. A TARS query may include temporal constraints and order constraints that restrict the order by which entities are visited. Since TARS generalizes the Traveling-Salesperson Problem, it is an NP-hard problem. Thus, it is unlikely to find a polynomial-time algorithm for evaluating TARS queries. Hence, we present in this paper three heuristics to answer TARS queries—a local greedy approach, a global greedy approach and an algorithm that computes a linear approximation to the travel speeds, formulates the problem as a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem and uses a solver to find a solution. We provide an experimental evaluation based on actual traffic data and show that using a MILP solver to find a solution is effective and can be done within a limited running time in many real-life scenarios. The local-greedy approach is the least effective in finding a fast route, however, it has the best running time and it is the most scalable.

Recommender Searching Mechanism for Trust - Aware Recommender Systems in Internet of Things
Intelligent things are widely connected in Internet of Things (IoT) to enable ubiquitous service access. This may cause heavy service redundant. The trust-aware recommender system (TARS) is therefore proposed for IoT to help users finding reliable services. One fundamental requirement of TARS is to efficiently find as many recommenders as possible for the active users. To achieve this, existing...
متن کاملSelf-Aware Traffic Route Planning
One of the most ubiquitous AI applications is vehicle route planning. While state-of-the-art systems take into account current traffic conditions or historic traffic data, current planning approaches ignore the impact of their own plans on the future traffic conditions. We present a novel algorithm for self-aware route planning that uses the routes it plans for current vehicle traffic to more a...
متن کاملA Novel Method for Travel System Patterns
Due to population growth in urban areas, especially in the capital cities in developing countries, the use of private vehicles are increasing, leading to many problems such as congestion, pollution, noise, long travel time, high travel cost and more side effects. In such circumstances government policy would encourage people to use public transportation. In the meantime, employing the Intellige...

HERE’s traffic-aware services enable route planning and traffic visualisation on web, mobile and connected car applications. These services process thousands of requests per second and require efficient ways to access the information needed to provide a timely response to end-users. The characteristics of road traffic information and these traffic-aware services require storage solutions with s...
متن کاملR3: A Real-Time Route Recommendation System
Existing route recommendation systems have two main weaknesses. First, they usually recommend the same route for all users and cannot help control traffic jam. Second, they do not take full advantage of real-time traffic to recommend the best routes. To address these two problems, we develop a real-time route recommendation system, called R3, aiming to provide users with the real-time-traffic-a...
